Kiernan Jarryd Forbes (born January 28, 1988 - died February 10, 2023) was born in Cape Town, South Africa. He is a talented South African rapper, songwriter, and record producer. He is professionally known as AKA.
AKA rose to fame with his hit single "Victory Lap" from his debut studio album, Altar Ego, which was released in 2010. The song was an instant success, and it propelled AKA to the forefront of the South African music scene.
Following the success of his debut album, AKA went on to release several other studio albums that cemented his position as one of the leading rappers in the country. His 2014 album, Levels, was a critical and commercial success and featured hit singles such as "Congratulate" and "All Eyes on Me." In 2017, AKA collaborated with Anatii on a joint album titled "Be Careful What You Wish For," which was also well-received by fans and critics alike.
In 2018, AKA made a guest appearance at WWE Live events held in Johannesburg and Cape Town. The event showcased his versatility as an artist and highlighted his ability to captivate a wide range of audiences.
Sadly, on February 10, 2023, AKA was tragically shot dead outside a restaurant in Durban, sending shockwaves throughout the music industry and his fans worldwide.
