1.1K Indian Singer

Arijit Singh (born April 25, 1987) was born in Jiaganj, Murshidabad, West Bengal, India. He is a renowned Indian singer and music composer. He is often compared to Atif Aslam for his similar voice texture and tone.

Singh's passion for music was nurtured by his guru Rajendra Prasad Hazari, who encouraged him to participate in the reality show Fame Gurukul in 2005, when he was just 18 years old. Despite being eliminated by audience polling and finishing in sixth place, this was a turning point in his musical journey.

Following his participation in the reality show, Singh ventured into the music industry as a music programmer and producer, working with renowned music directors like Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, Vishal–Shekhar, Mithoon, Monty Sharma, and Pritam. While collaborating with Pritam, he began to produce and program music independently, honing his skills as a musician.

Over the years, Singh has earned numerous accolades for his contribution to the music industry, including four Mirchi Music Awards, six Filmfare Awards, a Stardust Award, three IIFA Awards, two Zee Cine Awards, and two Screen Awards. He holds the record for winning the Filmfare award for Best Male Playback Singer for five consecutive years, from 2016 to 2020.

One of Singh's most memorable performances was for the song "Tum Hi hο" from the 2013 film Aashiqui 2, which garnered him nine awards out of ten nominations. He also received the IIFA award for Best Male Singer for the same song in 2014. Singh has recorded songs in various Indian languages and established himself as one of the leading playback singers in Bollywood.

Despite his success, Singh remains humble and acknowledges that he still has much to learn in his journey as a musician. He continues to collaborate with various music directors, pushing his creative boundaries and exploring new avenues in the world of music.
