However, he parted ways with the group in 2012 and ventured out as an independent artist.

Badshah's unique music style and creative abilities quickly earned him recognition in the music industry. His independent Haryanvi song, "Kar Gayi Chull," released in 2012, was later adapted into the 2016 Bollywood movie, Kapoor & Sons, and became a massive hit. His music has also featured in Bollywood soundtracks for several popular films such as "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania" and "Khoobsurat." Badshah is known for his Hindi, Haryanvi and Punjabi music, and has a huge fan base across the country.

Badshah is considered to be one of the highest-paid and most controversial rappers in India. His songs like "Genda Phool" and "Pagal" have garnered him widespread recognition but have also courted controversy. His work, "Genda Phool," which he released in collaboration with Payal Dev, became one of the most commercially successful yet controversial songs in Indian history.

Badshah's debut single, "DJ Waley Babu," featuring Aastha Gill, was a major hit and ranked number one on the Indian iTunes charts within 24 hours of its release. The song crossed a million views on YouTube within just 30 hours. He also collaborated with Navv Inder in 2016 on "Wakhra Swag," which won the 2016 Punjabi Music Awards for best duo/group and most popular song of the year award.

However, Badshah has also faced controversy in his career. In August 2020, he confessed to buying fake views for his YouTube videos for ₹72 lakh. Despite the controversy, Badshah remains one of the most influential and successful rappers in India and has been featured in Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list in 2017, 2018, and 2019 as one of the highest-paid celebrities in the country.
