146 Finnish Power Metal Band

"Beast in Black" is a formidable Finnish power metal band founded in Helsinki in 2015 by lead guitarist and songwriter Anton Kabanen. Drawing inspiration from iconic bands like Judas Priest, Manowar, W.A.S.P., Accept, and Black Sabbath, their sonic tapestry weaves together the best elements of classic metal. Kabanen, who founded the band following his departure from Battle Beast in the same year, has since been the driving force behind Beast in Black's musical journey.

The band, paying homage to the Japanese manga and anime series Berserk, signed with the prestigious Nuclear Blast label. Their debut album, "Berserker," unleashed on November 3, 2017, garnered widespread acclaim globally, reaching the seventh position on Finnish charts and making notable appearances in Germany, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Switzerland, and France. The announcement of Atte Palokangas as the permanent drummer in February 2018 solidified the current lineup, featuring the Greek vocalist Yannis Papadopoulos, Hungarian bassist Máté Molnár, and guitarist Kasperi Heikkinen.

Beast in Black's rise continued as they joined Nightwish on the European leg of their Decades: World Tour in 2018. The band's sophomore album, "From Hell with Love," dropped on February 8, 2019, leading to their inaugural headline tour in Europe alongside Finnish industrial metal outfit Turmion Kätilöt.

Their third opus, "Dark Connection," unveiled on October 26, 2021, further cemented their place in the metal realm. Beyond the Berserk tribute, the album delves into the realms of science fiction, referencing iconic series such as Blade Runner, Armitage III, Bubblegum Crisis, and Cyber City Oedo. Charting triumphantly in multiple countries, including Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan, "Dark Connection" claimed the top spot on the Finnish charts, affirming Beast in Black's international ascendancy.
