Gera was heavily influenced by renowned Mexican rap groups like Control Machete, Cartel de Santa, Knights of Plan G, and Molotov, and their music inspired him to pursue a career in rap. In 2011, he attended a concert where Rinox, a former member of the MXM crew, recognized Gera's talent and invited him to join Mexamafia, the best-known rap group at the time. Gera quickly became a valuable member of the crew, contributing to demos like "Caos en el paraíso" and "A medio camino," where he collaborated with artists like Rinox, Santa Rm, and Tanke One.

Gera's godfather in the music industry was Tanke One, and he shared a close bond with him until they had a fallout. This disagreement, coupled with Tanke's altercation with Gera's ex-manager, led to Gera's departure from Mexamafia and his decision to change his stage name from Gera MXM to Gera MX. He also left his JB Entertainment label and established his own Rich Vagos record label.

Despite facing setbacks, Gera continued to work tirelessly on his music and released several successful albums, including "No Veo No Siento" and "Precipicio," which established him as one of the leading rappers in Mexico.
