Growing up, Jackboy was always interested in music and started making beats on his computer at the age of 15. He later began writing his own lyrics and recording them in local studios.

Jackboy first gained recognition in the rap scene in 2016 after releasing his debut mixtape, Stick Up Kid. The project featured collaborations with his childhood friend Kodak Black and caught the attention of rapper PnB Rock, who gave Jackboy an influential co-sign on the track “Everyday ѕh¡t.” This led to more collaborations and features, including a remix of Tee Grizzley’s “From The D to the A” with Kodak Black, which helped raise his visibility in the industry.

In April 2020, Jackboy released his single “Pressure,” which gained significant attention and went viral due to its harmonic efforts and the gang-like activity that he raps about. The success of the single earned him his first RIAA Gold plaque, marking a significant milestone in his career.

However, 2021 proved to be a dramatic year for Jackboy as he engaged in a feud with his lifelong friend Kodak Black. The two exchanged diss tracks, with Kodak releasing “Super Gremlin” on October 30, 2021, which was aimed at calling out Jackboy for having "switched up." In response, Jackboy released “Don’t Force My Hand,” which interpolated Kodak's song entirely and cleared up rumors.

Despite the feud, Jackboy has continued to make waves in the music industry, releasing his debut studio album, "Jackboy 2," in November 2021. The album features collaborations with artists like Lil Durk, Tyga, and Post Malone, showcasing Jackboy's versatility and growth as an artist.
