Jason Bradley DeFord (born December 4, 1984) was born in Antioch, Tennessee, United States. He is an American singer & songwriter. He is professionally known as Jelly Roll. He recently achieved great success at the 2023 CMT Music Awards, where his song "Son of a Sinner" won three prestigious accolades, including Male Video of the Year, Male Breakthrough Video of the Year, and Digital-First Performance of the Year.

Before transitioning into country music, Jelly Roll initially gained recognition in the hip hop scene. One of his notable collaborations was the 2010 track "Pop Another Pill" with Memphis rapper Lil Wyte, which garnered over 6.3 million views on YouTube. This successful collaboration led to the release of the album "Year Round" by the hip-hop group SNO, in which Jelly Roll was a member. He went on to release various mixtapes and independent solo albums, collaborating with esteemed artists such as Lil Wyte, Struggle Jennings, Haystak, and Tech N9ne.

Jelly Roll faced a minor setback in 2013 when his mixtape, originally titled "Whiskey, Weed, & Waffle House," had to be renamed due to potential legal issues with the restaurant chain. The cover was altered to feature a "cease and desist" stamp in place of the Waffle House logo, ensuring compliance.

Jelly Roll's talent and versatility soon caught the attention of the country music industry. He made his Grand Ole Opry debut on November 9, 2021, and his reputation continued to grow. In July 2022, country singer Craig Morgan invited Jelly Roll to join him on stage at the Opry for a captivating performance of "Almost Home."

In 2022, Jelly Roll achieved a significant milestone when his track "Dead Man Walking" reached number one on Rock Radio. The following year, he accomplished another remarkable feat with his debut country single, "Son of a Sinner," topping the Country radio charts. The song, which he co-wrote with David Ray Stevens, was featured on his 2021 album, 'Ballads of the Broken,' and also reached number eight on the Billboard Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. Additionally, Jelly Roll made history in February 2023 by spending a record-breaking 25 weeks at number one on Billboard's Emerging Artists chart.

Demonstrating his immense popularity, Jelly Roll sold out Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on December 9, 2022, performing to a crowd of 15,000 enthusiastic fans. The star-studded event featured guest appearances by renowned artists such as Chris Young, Sam Hunt, Riley Green, Shinedown, Ernest, Struggle Jennings, Tech N9ne, and Krizz Kaliko. Further showcasing his prowess, Jelly Roll is set to embark on the highly anticipated "Backroad Baptism Tour," consisting of 44 cities during the summer of 2023.

With his remarkable achievements and growing fan base, Jelly Roll continues to captivate audiences. His recent victories at the 2023 CMT Music Awards highlight his undeniable talent and mark a significant milestone in his career. On June 2, 2023, he released his album, "Whitsitt Chapel," which features the single "Need a Favor," further solidifying his position as a versatile and accomplished artist.
