She is professionally known as Jewel. she hails from the picturesque surroundings of Homer, Alaska, where her musical journey began alongside her father, Atz Kilcher, a local musician. They formed a duo and often enchanted audiences with their enchanting melodies and even yodeling.

At the age of fifteen, Jewel's prodigious talent led her to the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, where she honed her skills in operatic voice.
