Joanna Noëlle Levesque (born December 20, 1990) was born in Brattleboro, Vermont, United States. She is an American singer, songwriter and actress. She is professionally known as JoJo. JoJo's journey into the spotlight commenced in her early years, captivating audiences with her impressive performances in singing competitions and local talent shows. Her breakthrough moment came in 2003 when record producer Vincent Herbert took notice of her exceptional talent on the television show America's Most Talented Kids, leading her to audition for his record label, Blackground Records.

In 2004, JoJo unveiled her eponymous debut studio album, a critical success that soared to number four on the US Billboard 200. The album's lead single, "Leave (Get Out)," not only topped the US Billboard Mainstream Top 40 chart but also solidified JoJo as the youngest solo artist in history to achieve this feat at the age of 13.
