Dequantes Lamar (born October 4, 1989) was born in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. He is an American rapper who rose to prominence in the early 2010s. He is professionally known as Rich Homie Quan. Quan initially gained recognition with his mixtape releases and captivating melodic delivery. He was previously signed to labels T.I.G. Entertainment and Motown, and is an independent artist as of 2021.

In 2012, Quan's song "Differences" served as the lead single from his mixtape "Still Going In." The following year, he embarked on a tour with Trinidad James and collaborated with Gucci Mane on his album "Trap House III." During this period, Quan's music drew comparisons to other rising Atlanta rappers like Future, Young Thug, and Young Scooter for his melodic and heartfelt approach.

His breakthrough moment came in 2013 with the release of the single "Type of Way," which reached number 50 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song showcased Quan's ability to deliver emotionally charged lines and established him as part of Atlanta's emerging rap scene. In the same year, Rolling Stone named his mixtape "Still Goin' In (Reloaded)" as the tenth best mixtape of the year.

In 2014, Quan faced a health scare when he fainted and hit his head on the set of his music video for "Walk Thru," but he clarified that it was not drug-related. Later that year, he became part of the Rich Gang collective and contributed to their mixtape "Tha Tour Pt. 1," which spawned the popular single "Lifestyle."

In 2015, Quan released "Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)," accompanied by a music video on YouTube. The song achieved moderate success, peaking at number 26 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. After a brief hiatus, Quan made a comeback in 2017 with the single "Replay" and followed it up with the mixtape "Back to the Basics."

Finally, on March 18, 2018, Quan released his highly anticipated debut studio album, "Rich as in Spirit." The album showcased his growth as an artist and featured the singles "Changed" and "34."
