134 British Dance-pop Group

Steps is a quintessential British dance-pop group that was formed in May 1997. The group consists of Lee Latchford-Evans, Claire Richards, Lisa Scott-Lee, Faye Tozer, and Ian "H" Watkins. From their inception, Steps became one of the most popular groups of their time, with a string of chart-topping singles and albums that established them as one of the biggest pop acts in the UK.

Between 1997 and 2001, they achieved 14 consecutive top 5 singles, including two number-one singles and two number-one albums in the UK. Their music and hits extended throughout Europe, and they have sold over 22 million records globally.

In 1999, Steps were nominated for a BRIT Award for Best Newcomer while supporting Britney Spears on her tour, further cementing their success. However, despite their popularity, the group disbanded on 26 December 2001 when Richards and Watkins decided to form a recording duo. Even with their imminent disbandment, Steps managed to release one last single, which reached number five in the UK charts. Additionally, their final album of greatest hits, Gold, was a testament to their incredible success, as it became their second number-one album in the UK.

Since their disbandment, Steps has reunited several times for tours and performances, garnering a massive following and immense popularity. Their most recent tour, the What The Future Holds Tour in 2021, was the group's most successful tour to date. The group has continued to be a prominent figure in the UK music industry, with their catchy dance-pop music, and their synchronized dance routines. Several of their singles have been used in various television shows and films, solidifying their place in pop culture. The success of Steps has helped cement their status as one of the most successful and beloved pop groups of the late 1990s and early 2000s.
