Augustine Miles Kelechi Okechukwu (born December 17, 1992) was born in auchi, Bauchi State, Nigeria. He is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is professionally known as Tekno. Tekno first entered the music industry under the banner of K-Money Entertainment, where he released his breakout single, "Holiday," featuring the acclaimed Davido. The track received widespread acclaim, solidifying Tekno's presence and earning him substantial airplay.
In a serendipitous turn of events, Tekno's talent caught the attention of renowned Nigerian comedian Julius Agwu in 2012, following a captivating performance of his remix of Ice Prince's "Oleku" titled "Onye Ne Kwu." This encounter led to a pivotal meeting with Iyanya and Ubi Franklin, the manager of Made Men Music Group, fostering a friendship that would encourage Tekno to relocate to Lagos to further cultivate his musical journey.
Tekno's international recognition soared when, on December 12, 2017, American rapper Drake shared images of their interaction on Instagram, teasing a potential collaboration with the caption, "Tekkk time." Subsequently, Tekno collaborated with American singer Ciara on the track "Freak Me," released on August 10, 2018, showcasing his global appeal.
His influence extended to production when, in August 2019, he was credited as one of the producers for Swae Lee's "Won't Be Late" featuring Drake. Tekno's global footprint was further established with a distribution deal signed with Universal Music Group Nigeria and UK-based Island Records in June 2018.
The year 2020 marked a significant milestone as Tekno unveiled the tracklist for his highly anticipated debut album, "Old Romance," a testament to his artistic evolution.
