Christopher Townsend (born February 22, 1991) was born in Kilmichael, Mississippi, United States. He is an American rapper, entrepreneur, and conservative political activist. He is professionally known as Topher, and graduated from Montgomery County High School in 2009. After completing his high school education, Topher joined the United States Air Force and served as a cryptologic language analyst for six years. In April 2017, he left the military and embarked on a new journey as an independent rapper and political commentator.
Topher has been involved in hip-hop for over two decades and has built a reputation for his unique sound and hard-hitting lyrics. In December 2020, he released his single "The Patriot" featuring The Marine Rapper, which quickly climbed to the top of the Billboard Rap Digital Song Sales chart. In March 2021, Topher dropped his highly anticipated debut album, "No Apologies," which received critical acclaim and further cemented his position as a rising star in the hip-hop scene.
However, Topher's success has not come without controversy. He and The Marine Rapper performed "The Patriot" at a Veterans for Trump rally near the U.S. Capitol building during the 2021 storming by supporters of former President Donald Trump. Following the performance, Spotify removed the song from its platform, and Topher was banned from broadcasting live on Instagram.
Despite these setbacks, Topher remains committed to using his platform to promote conservative values and amplify the voices of those who feel underrepresented in mainstream media. His song "I Left My Home" was featured in the 2021 movie "A Journal for Jordan," directed by Denzel Washington.
