Alanis Nadine Morissette (born June 1, 1974) was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She is a Canadian-American singer-songwriter celebrated for her emotive mezzo-soprano voice and deeply personal songwriting. She is professionally known as Alanis Morissette. She first emerged on the music scene in Canada during the early 1990s with two dance-pop albums.
