Freddie Gibbs Lyrics - Discography

186 American Rapper

Fredrick Jamel Tipton (born June 14, 1982) was born in Gary, Indiana, United States. He is an American rapper. He is professionally known as Freddie Gibbs. Gibbs initially inked a deal with Interscope Records in 2006, embarking on the journey toward his debut album. Unfortunately, this endeavor was thwarted by the cancellation of the album's release and his subsequent departure from the label due to executive shakeups.

Undeterred, Gibbs found a new home with Young Jeezy's CTE World in 2011, a move that marked a turning point in his career. Under CTE, he unleashed a series of mixtapes, notably gaining widespread acclaim for "Baby Face Killa" in 2012. However, the alliance with CTE was short-lived as Gibbs departed in early 2013 to forge his own path, establishing his independent label, ESGN. This label served as the namesake for his debut studio album, which hit the airwaves in June of the same year.

Gibbs continued to evolve as an artist, dropping his second and third albums, "Shadow of a Doubt" (2015) and "You Only Live 2wice" (2017), both met with positive reviews and commendable commercial success. The latter notably boasted a distinctive feature – no guest appearances, showcasing Gibbs' individual prowess.

His fourth album, "Freddie" (2018), garnered critical acclaim, setting the stage for his major label collaboration with Warner Records. "Soul Sold Separately" (2022), his fifth studio album, secured a remarkable position, peaking at number 11 on the Billboard 200. Additionally, Gibbs ventured into collaborative projects, teaming up with Madlib for "Piñata" (2014) and "Bandana" (2019), as well as with the Alchemist for "Fetti" (2018) and "Alfredo" (2020). The latter earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best Rap Album at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards, cementing Freddie Gibbs' status as a versatile and influential force in the rap landscape.
