Jung hο-seok (February 18, 1994) was born in Buk District, Gwangju, South Korea. He is a South Korean rapper, singer-songwriter, dancer and record producer. He is professionally known as J-Hope. J-Hope became a household name in the entertainment industry after making his debut as a member of the highly successful boy band BTS in 2013 under the management of Big Hit Entertainment.

J-Hope's exceptional talent and unique style quickly set him apart from his peers, and in 2018, he released his first solo mixtape titled "Hope World." The project was well received by critics and peaked at number 38 on the US Billboard 200, setting a new record for the highest-charting album by a Korean solo artist at the time.

In 2019, J-Hope made history again as the first member of BTS to enter the Billboard Hot 100 as a solo artist with his single "Chicken Noodle Soup," featuring American singer Becky G. The song debuted at number 81, solidifying J-Hope's position as a musical force to be reckoned with.

In 2022, J-Hope further cemented his position in the music industry with the release of his highly anticipated debut studio album "Jack in the Box." The album showcased J-Hope's versatility as an artist and received widespread critical acclaim.

Before joining BTS, J-Hope was a member of an underground dance team called Neuron, and he took dance classes at Gwangju Music Academy for six years, from fourth grade to his first year in high school when he was signed by Big Hit Entertainment. J-Hope's contribution to the music industry and Korean culture was recognized in 2018 when he and the other members of BTS were awarded the fifth-class Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit by the President of South Korea. J-Hope's social media influence was also evident in 2018 when he posted the "In My Feelings Challenge," which became the most liked tweet in the world that year.

J-Hope's impact extends beyond the music industry as he was appointed Special Presidential Envoy for Future Generations and Culture by South Korean President Moon Jae-in in July 2021.
